My thoughts are frozen in my mind. My body cold and rigid. I cannot move. I cannot feel. My words are crisp and cold, quiet and sharp. My heart cracks the frozen blood it pumps through my veins. My lungs create frost in my throat, tightening the muscles and straining my words. A sun shines on me. He thaws my brain. My thoughts are warm and bright, my blood is smooth as silk. My breath creates condensation in my throat and makes my words slosh in my mouth. I spit the consonants and vowels out into the world. My throat burns and my teeth melt. The sun holds me close. My icey body thaws. My joints collapse, my arms go limps. The sun holds me closer, his warmth boiling my heart. I can move. I can feel. |
